Back in the Saddle

Sunday was the closing night of Summerplay, Collaborative Artists Ensemble’s premiere of new one-act plays at the Gardner Stages in Hollywood. The competition was stiff this year with over 400 entries out of which 2 comedies, one farce and 3 dramas were selected. I had the privilege of playing one of the leads in a drama where my dark past growing up in a Catholic household provided considerable fuel to the conflict.

It’s been a fairly dry year thus far with only a few short (though promising) films dotting the strike-plagued landscape, so it was nice to get back on stage again, receive good notices and get a chance to play something so cathartic and so brazenly not me. And autumn beckons with some tantalizing prospects and excellent astrological transits.
